The evening was nice and clear with fair seeing, allowing a series of images to be taken throughout, covering 26 degrees of the planets rotation.

Mars South Pole is tilted towards us by 2.1 degrees. We have the North pole to look fwd to in 2010, when the declination of earth Earth is plus 14.4 Deg

Mars now is just 11.1 seconds of arc across now , but still shows plenty of detail. In early Feb 2010, it will be 14 seconds of arc, and 60 degrees high from the UK.

Sorry about yet another study of the Solis Lacus region, this is what comes of travelling 60degrees East from Barbados and continuing to observe Mars in the UK. By doing this we lost coverage of some parts the planet, whilst it was at its largest, as also January here was mostly cloudy.
